The Year Six pupils from Aycliffe Village Primary School cycled from the school along an old cycle way before joining the newly opened Shildon Cycle and Multi Use Route to the National Railway Museum at Shildon. There, the pupils undertook a range of activities, locating answers to questions and finding out information about the different types of railway vehicles on display.
Accompanying the pupils were school staff members, Mr Gargan and Mrs Vest. The pupils were also joined by an Officer from the Sustainable Transport Group, Sustrans, Mr Rio Floreza and local community members, PC Thompson, (Retired) and Tony Jary.
The cycling activity is an activity linked to the schools sporting curriculum and encourages participation in activity that aims to promote a healthy lifestyle.
