Dear Sir,
I am a resident of Newton Aycliffe who attends St. John’s Sixth Form, and I am fundraising for Project Peru. This was set up by my college to help to pay for international aid, building materials and food – primarily focusing on building schools and sanitation facilities around the deprived areas of Peru, with many families surviving on a mere £1 a day.
It will be a two week trip which enables us to help current schoolchildren improve their English, to help and engage with their lessons. Each student, that has been invited to help, is expected to fundraise themselves for their placement, a total of £2500 which pays for travel expenses, accommodation, transportation, etc.
I decided to take part in this charity for a number of reasons; I believe people deserve the freedom to travel and not confine themselves to a certain area for the rest of their lives which, unfortunately, seems to be the case for many of these locals. I also believe everyone deserves an equal education and to work and live in a safe environment. Obviously our work will not fulfil this, but it is a great step in the right direction for such a large, but taboo, issue.
I have set up a GoFundMe page to bring in some donations from others, while I work in other ways, visit:
