U15 Newton Aycliffe Hawks 3
Hartlepool Saxons 2
Today the boys hosted a Saxons team who had beaten us previously this season. Conditions made it tough to play our passing game, so we knew today would be a grind. The boys struggled to get to grip with the game for the majority of it today, but we always look dangerous when we attack. We took the lead when Declan turned home from a corner at the back stick. We were soon 2 up when Jack was fouled in the area and he dusted himself off to slot the ball home. Saxons first half were just knocking long balls forward for their striker to chase, we defended well for the majority of the half but one mistake cost us a goal, 2-1. We responded well and were soon 3-1 up when Robbie’s cross was nodded home by a defender. HT 3-1. 2nd half we were playing into the wind and struggled to get a grip of things, our decision making wasn’t very good today. Thankfully we defended well as a team, especially Dylan who was having another blinding performance at CB. Charlie in goal was alert to long balls, through balls and his handling was exemplary. We created some clear goal scoring chances but failed to put the game to bed. We were made to sweat as Saxons scored a 2nd but the boys found a way to see the game out.  MOTM Dylan for another commanding display at the heart of our defence.

U11 Newton Aycliffe Falcons 7
Bishop Auckland 4
We started the 1st half confident making some good runs and passing the ball well. We got the 1st goal which put the lads on a high. We were firing shots from the edge of box, hitting the post then the cross bar, winning scrambles in the box and had most of the possession. We scored another 4 in the 1st half and Bishop scored 1.
2nd half our lads thought they had it in the bag and pushing forward they all wanted a bit of the action, failing to come back and help the defence.  Having too many up front meant Bishop beat our defence and scored 3 in the 2nd half. After directing our midfield to come back and help, the game settled down again and we got a further 2 goals.  FT 7-4 to Aycliffe.  Learning lessons every week, but overall some good football played. Well done lads.

League Shield Round One
U14 Aycliffe Girls away to Deerness
Cold windy hill in Sacriston for today’s game, but every girl was up for the game.  A tight first 10 minutes in which Deerness had the best chance, but Faith came out to their striker who slotted wide of the post. This give the girls the jolt they needed and on from there we were in control.  Hattie opened the scoring first, followed by 2 goals on her debut from Ruby and one from Alex taking the score at HT 0-4.
Hattie opened the scoring in the second half and was then moved to be the midfield provider having a part in every goal that then came from Jess, Macey, Olivia and a further 2 for Alex. The power play rule was then used, where our opposition brought on another player, but the girls were too strong today.  Onwards to Round Two against Easington Colliery in a few weeks time.
