The large Sainsburys in Victoria Road, Darlington, have kindly agreed to host our own virtual marathon for us (Darlington Samaritans) on Sunday 21st April via two treadmills for the 26 miles needed.
We have sourced some willing and energetic volunteers, who will work as a team to cover the miles. It is to be a bucket collection in store (rather than sponsorship) and we are hoping for some decent footfall. The store is open from 10am to 4pm on Sunday 21st and we will be there most of that time.
Our director, Chris, may well be making a celebrity appearance later on the day, hoping to walk from home, near Barnard Castle, to get some practise in for his Epic Walk in May, whether he will have green hair by then is another matter, as he promised to dye it green, our Samaritan colour, if he raises £2,000. He is nearly three quarters of the way there already, so here’s hoping. His link is Darlington and District Samaritans: Fundraising started (enthuse.com).
Please pop along to say hello and help support our runners on the day, they will be most happy to see you.
