The club’s members kindly donated lots of prizes to the raffle to raise funds for Mayor Sandra Haigh’s chosen charity; Children’s Blessings, Lifeline Community Action.
On Saturday 19th March, Mayor Sandra Haigh and Councillor Brian Haigh came along to one of the club’s training sessions at Newton Aycliffe Leisure Centre to meet the members of the Club and to receive the cheque from the children.
It was an exciting time for the children to meet and present the cheque to Mayor Sandra and Councillor Brian Haigh who then stayed at the club to chat and watch the children training and show their skills and what they are capable of with their dedicated hard work.
The club explained how well the new Level 8 beginners session has been going with the children already earning distance, skills, badges and certificates. This session was kindly helped with funding through the Great Aycliffe and Middridge Partnership.
Parent Liaison Officer Paul Taylor said “It really is great to have the club be part of raising funds for local deserving charities and to see the children be proud of what they have helped with. Many thanks to Mayor Sandra Haigh and Councillor Brian Haigh for coming along to the club, and to GAMP for all the support; it is much appreciated by all the members of SWPC.”
