NAFC Junior Section Roundup 13th/14th November.
All teams paid their respects this weekend with a minute’s silence to remember those who bravely gave their lives so we can have ours. Lest we forget.
U9’s Whites played Hebburn this morning and took a commanding lead in the first half but Hebburn battled back and ended up grabbing a draw at the end. A great game, the lads fought and battled for each other. Scorers: Oscar x2, Ryley x1, Harry C x2. MOTM: Seth, a great debut in goal.
U9’s Blacks hosted Skelton United. Having lost a couple of players, the lads stepped up and put in a fantastic first half performance, despite players playing in new positions. Second half Aycliffe tired and Skelton took the spoils. Tough for the boys, but cannot fault their effort and attitude. MOTM: Luca D.
U10’s Blacks played Hetton with another solid performance. The game did not start well, conceding early doors. We settled down and produced some great football. A fine individual goal from Rhys levelled it before HT. Benjamin then scored with a neat finish, before a late equaliser from Hetton. Some fine individual performances resulting in honours even. MOTM: Mathis.
U10’s Juniors travelled to Cleveland Juniors and, with a reduced squad, knew it was going to be tough against strong opposition. A fantastic game which saw us go behind twice and pull back level. With legs tiring Cleveland grabbed a decider despite a great fighting spirit. Scorers Sammy x2. MOTM: Jensen. Great comments after the game from the home team, commenting on Mason and Daniel, “one the best centre half partnerships he’s seen for a long time”
U12’s hosted Norton and Stockton Ancients, from Div2, in round two of the challenge cup. With three players missing and a change of formation the team gave an excellent performance, playing some good football at times against a team four divisions higher than us, who were deserved winners. We move on and back to the league next weekend. Great second half performance. FT 1-8. Goal from Callum, MOTM: Zeke.
U15’s hosted high flying Ripon City Panthers. Sloppy defending let the visitors lead 0-1 before Travis equalised with a penalty. The lads fell behind again before a change in formation saw us grab an equaliser from Reece. A strong start to second half saw us go 5-2 up with Reece completing his hat trick and Thomas A grabbing a goal. A nervy last 10 minutes ensued when Ripon pulled two goals back, to end 5-4 to the lads. The win put us top of the league with 100% record after 4 games.
U16’s travelled to face Hetton Lyons and unfortunately the team never got going, quickly finding themselves 2-0 down in the first few minutes. A formation change saw Aycliffe get a foothold, going with 5 across midfield, allowing Aycliffe to dominate possession. Second half saw good efforts from Ted, Anthony and Taylor, but the goal just would not come. As Aycliffe continued to press, we were caught on the break, with the final result 4-0 to Hetton. MOTM: Bo.
U18’s hosted Redcar in a classic game of 2 halves. First half was absolutely awful, going in 0-2 at HT. Four changes made at HT and we came out a different team, literally. We grabbed two goals and should have had more, including good shouts for two penalties, but it was not our day, eventually going down 2-3. Goals: George C x1 and Jack C x1. MOTM: George.
