Students from Greenfield Community College have been shortlisted for an award and their work has been chosen to be published in a regional anthology.
Six Year 11 students have been ‘speaking up for writing’ and have been recognised for their creativity through the prestigious Terry Kelly Award. The students are supported by teacher Nicola Best and had little experience in writing creatively. The piece was written as a response to an exhibition at Greenfield Arts and the initiative was led by Katy Milne, Director of Creativity.
Greenfield Community College have a strong emphasis on the importance of reading and how that impacts upon writing, creativity and learning. Every young person is given the opportunity to read each day as part of their T4S (Time for Success) tutor group lesson which enables students to transfer valuable skills across the curriculum.
The following students worked alongside professional poet Tony Gadd to produce creative work as a response to the ‘Inspired by Cornish’ exhibition: Kallum B, Leon D, Ellis H, Bradley L, Keiran W, Sophie W.
