A group set up just three years ago to support cancer patients, their relatives and carers has been given a cash boost to help continue its “extremely valuable work”. Great Aycliffe Cancer Support Group had just eight members when it was launched. Today it has over 80 and more turn up at meetings in the Youth Centre every month. Last week, Newton Aycliffe Rotary Club President Nora Scott presented the group’s chairperson, Allison White, with a cheque for £400 after telling the group: “We have all been touched by cancer and recognize the extremely valuable work that you do to support those who need help.” The cash was part of the proceeds from the Rotary Club’s Golf Day last year sponsored by Hall Construction owners of Woodham Golf Club Allison, pictured with President Nora Scott and (lr) Rtn David Hogg and Rtn David Scott, commented:  “We’re most grateful for the Rotary Club’s support.” Information about the cancer group can be obtained from Allison on 07762 258696
