The Huntsman’s solid start to the 2015/16 continued on Sunday, with a convincing 9-1 victory away to BA Bay Horse. A 20 man squad provided a major selection headache for Manager Neil Dodds, who in the end opted for an unchanged side.
A fast and high intensity start was rewarded 10 minutes in when Reed Molloy was slipped in and the top scorer finished coolly into the bottom corner to give the visitors the lead.
One soon became two and it was Molloy again who bagged his second of the game following some good work in midfield.
Bay Horse responded and a defensive mistake allowed them a great chance down the right hand side which ended in the opposition striker making no mistake, looping the ball into the top right corner to make it 2-1.
The away side didn’t panic however, and it was Dave Neale who popped up in the box with a powerful header to give the visitors their two goal cushion back.
A great piece of work from Cal Farley on the edge of the opposition box led to a free kick in a dangerous position. Up stepped Molloy who bent the ball round the opposition wall to give the visitors a 4-1 lead at the break.
You could forgive The Huntsman for taking their foot off the pedal after the break; however they continued to press forward and were rewarded with another goal as Mike Sproates scored his 2nd of the season with an excellent near post header.
It was then man of the match Molloy’s turn again to grab his fourth of the game and 9th of the season, smashing the ball high into the opposition net from close range.
6 quickly became 7, as a floated in corner was nodded back across the box where Dave Neale was waiting with one of his trademark back stick runs to head home.
Sproates then added another curling in the bottom corner, before Anthony Harrison came off the bench to calmly complete the rout with a finish from just inside the box.
3 wins from 3 and 19 goals scored is a great start to the season. Next is a trip to Witton Gilbert in the County Cup on Sunday 6th September.
