The Pioneering Care Partnership (PCP) are co-ordinating an ‘Active Aycliffe’ marquee at the Great Aycliffe Show on 25/26 August 2012 and are offering spaces to local organisations who deliver services that aim to improve the lifestyles of children, young people and families.

PCP, through the Sedgefield Health Network is involved in a new initiative involving organisations such as Great Aycliffe and Middridge Partnership (GAMP), Durham County Council’s Sport and Physical Activity Team and local sports’ clubs who have got together to run events and raise the profile of what’s going on in Aycliffe.

The aim of ‘Active Aycliffe’ is to help get children, young people and families fitter and healthier and participate in activities to improve their lifestyles. The tent (60 x 30ft marquee with full interlocking wood floor) will showcase the activities of local small sports clubs and associations and provide a market place of information. Financial support has kindly been provided from GAMP, The Rotary Club, livin and Lifestyle Fitness.

Jane Hartley Chief Executive for the PCP says “Whether you would like to increase participation or awareness of your activity, benefit from partnership support through this new initiative or simply be part of this positive promotion of Newton Aycliffe, this is a fantastic opportunity to showcase the diverse range of activities available that can improve people’s lifestyles.

We want people to visit our ‘Active Aycliffe’ tent at the show to discover the huge variety of local activities and services that people can access on their own doorstep. There will be tasters from sports clubs and activities such as cycling, gymnastics & health MOT’s.  There will be lots of things for all the family to see and do. We want people to have fun, try something new and celebrate what Aycliffe has to offer.”
