After Aldi Refuse to Supply

Great Aycliffe Community Aid Partnership, on behalf of the Foodbank in Newton Aycliffe, approached Aldi to ask if they would donate 20 loaves of unused bread each week to feed local families in need.
Aldi said they had a huge demand for charitable donations and have decided to nominate a specific charity to support each year and were unable to consider the application.
Fortunately our local Tesco store, who have always supported local charities, came to the rescue and will willingly give FRESH bread to the Foodbank each week.
Ernie Temple the local FoodBank organiser from St. Clare’s Church said he was very grateful for Tesco’s help and thanked the local Manager Martin Butcher for his kind consideration. “Tesco already help in many ways including allowing a special food collection bin for the Foodbank, and their generosity further demonstrates their concern for people in difficulty and their commitment to our community” said Ernie.
