Newton News is delighted to report that a home grown Aycliffe business has acquired Woodham Golf Course.
Hall Construction, a family business run by Stephen and Neville Hall, has offices just across the road from the course and is the ideal company to develop the site and make the necessary improvements to a course which has great potential.
Golfers will be overjoyed by this announcement knowing a recognised and highly successful construction company with a great reputation will bring new life to Woodham.
The company was formed in 1974 first dealing in Plant Hire and progressing to become Civil Engineers and builders taking on massive projects all over the country contracted by leading developers.
Halls now employ over 300 staff with offices in Co. Durham, Sheffield and Scotland. They specialise in industrial premises, housing and infrastructure.
We spoke to Stephen who gave assurances that the golf course would re-open in the first week of July and operate as before.
Previous staff are being offered employment and Golf Professional Ernie Wilson is returning to start work immediately He hopes that golfers will return as soon as the course  opens.
Stephen over time will make improvements to the  course and greens giving his expert attention to drainage problems.
