On Sunday 16th April, the Mayor and Mayoress of Great Aycliffe attended a fundraiser organised by the friends and family of Jayden Isaac, the little boy who lost an eye as a result of eye cancer.
What a fantastic event with competitions and raffles as well as the main event of extreme hairdressing. Nikki Simmons volunteered first and had her head shaved (bet she is cold now), followed by Jaden’s relatives Ian, Mark and Harry Isaac. By the time they were sheared a carpet of hair covered the stage, but everyone was smiling as the amount raised for The Childhood Eye Cancer Trust made over £1500.
Of course, my friend Brian Nichol was in attendance taking photos to commemorate the occasion and felt the need to Donate £100 to swell the coffers. For myself I couldn’t resist having my face painted as SpiderMayor and came away with two raffle prizes.
Thank you very much to the organisers and volunteers who made this a wonderful afternoon.
Ken Robson, Mayor of Great Aycliffe.
