A large group of Woodham Academy year 9 and 10 girls took part in a ‘girls in engineering’ event at South West Durham Training recently. The event aims to show students the opportunities and highly paid careers they could have in the engineering sector. As part of the day, our students took part in a range of activities from different engineering sectors.
Activities included computer aided design, where students create 3D images of parts that can then be manufactured on a machine, chemical engineering experience, where students manufactured bath bombs and worked with pneumatic systems and created structures.
The aim of the event was to make girls aware of the highly skilled and well paid careers they can have in the sector.
