Earlier this week, the junior hall in Stephenson Way Academy was magically transformed into a theatrical wonderland of sound, colour light and fun as pupils throughout the school were taken on a journey to Narnia, courtesy of M & M Theatre productions.

Pupils watched in awe as Lucy, Susan, Peter and Edmund stepped through the wardrobe and were magically transported through time to a different realm to meet Mr Beaver, Aslan and The White Witch. The key literary characters from the classic novel The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, written by C.S Lewis, helped pupils to see the importance of kindness, bravery and teamwork in action. Leiland, a Year 5 pupil told us, “I hoped all along that the children and the lion would defeat the Witch because she was up to no good and evil should never win!”

During the annual visit from the theatre company, the children were fully immersed in the engaging performance by the cast. Mr Stephenson, Assistant Headteacher, said, “Each year M & M Theatre Company visit our school to retell a classic tale, which ensures our pupils have a wide literary diet. They never fail to amaze us with the exciting way in which the actors bring the stories to life. This wonderful treat provides an invaluable and enjoyable arts experience for our children. We’re already looking forward to next year’s performance!”
