The end of 2017 was an extremely busy and exciting time for this popular youth choir. Beginning with an invitation to sing at the Christmas Light switch on in Brafferton Village – they delighted villagers with a jolly selection of carols and songs and were made to feel very welcome, THANK YOU for that. Then they came together for the Civic Carol Service in St. Clare’s Church entertaining Mayor Wendy Hillary and invited guests as well as local parishioners with a joyful and heartwarming performance. SHINE children looked wonderful in their official t – shirts expertly printed by local company CUSTOMISE – IT NOW LTD. THANK YOU so much to them.

Next was a surprise visit from Simon and Carl who recorded SHINE singing a Christmas melody for Cleveland Radio Station. They interviewed choir member Chloe Ashcroft and SHINE leader Helen about why the choir was so successful. This recording has been played in local hospitals and on air over the Christmas period a grand total of 8 times – WOW!!!! How wonderful to brighten up a Christmas in hospital for so many. THANK YOU for such an amazing community opportunity.

The SHINE SHOW – Baubles was a sell out on both performances with 56 children all taking part in a super musical nativity based upon an outstanding school!! Councillor Jed Hillary exclaimed it was a production on a grand scale with polished performances and most of all happy faces. THANKS to all who came, supported and encouraged. And to Santa too, who took time out of his very busy schedule to come along. A huge THANK YOU to Wendy and team at local Sainsbury’s – Cobblers Hall who provided the mince pie refreshments!

Finally SHINE children were rewarded with an end of show party. How it all happened I still don’t know!!

THANK YOU to the amazing team who help each week and to all our wonderful parents and talented children who never cease to amaze us. THANK YOU to the church for our hall space and for the love and support you give us. We will continue to SHINE as lights in the world.

SHINE begins term on Monday 15th January 5-6pm in St. Clare’s Community Hall – free and fun. We are nearly full to the brim and have some 2018 bookings already so make sure you come along to keep your place as we now have a waiting list.
