Aycliffe Town Centre Management and Aycliffe Radio held a Celebration of Christmas on Saturday 25th November 2023, which was enjoyed by all.
Kicking off the entertainment with the Newton Aycliffe Pipe Band playing a selection of classic bagpipe tunes. At 3.00pm the M.A.D. (Make a Difference) Choir gave excellent renditions of Christmas carols and hymns and were followed by the excellent St. Clare’s SHINE Choir, covering more carols and Christmas tunes.
Santa and Mrs Claus were based in the old Bon Marche unit and managed to talk to and give a gift to all who came to visit them. Alongside Santa and Mrs Claus were a handful of stalls and on the mall, outdoors, was Face Painter Vicky, hot dog/hamburger, ice cream van and Tea-Cup fairground rides. The town’s police beat team were also kept busy all afternoon as they manned the inflatable snow globe.
As the SHINE choir finished, the Mayor and Mayoress, Carl & Carol Robinson, spoke to the audience, wishing everyone a merry Christmas and started the countdown to switch on the Christmas tree lights.
