Nominated by Dorothy Bowman, two young people Tamarin Mellor and Bradley Deluce attended a ceremony in Durham Castle to receive a Shrievalty Award.
The award presented by the High Sheriff of County Durham is a testimony to the way they have turned their lives round and made a difference to other young people in their community.
They have both shown by example that although in residential care at the Young People’s Centre at Newton Aycliffe, with guidance and help have both gained high standards in education and are a credit to the care system. Dorothy Bowman takes a very keen interest in all the young people in care since she was a County Councillor. “Young people deserve recognition for their hard work to become the best that they can” said Dorothy. Mr Michael Banks the Deputy Chief Constable of Durham presented gift vouchers at the event which was organised by Durham Agency against Crime funded by The James Knott Trust.
