Following the success of their summer concert, featuring Rossini’s Stabat Mater, Bishop Auckland Choral Society have announced their Christmas concert, aptly titled ‘A Ceremony of Christmas Carols’.
The programme will feature extracts from Benjamin Britten’s ‘A Ceremony of Carols’ with harp accompaniment, followed by Christmas songs, carols and readings with an opportunity for the audience to join in singing some of the familiar Christmas carols. Zoe Solomon is the guest harpist; Dr Duncan Brown is the choir’s regarded accompanist with Venera Bojkova as their renowned Musical Director.
The concert will be held on Friday 8th December 2023 in St. Anne’s Church, Market Place, Bishop Auckland, DL14 7NU and begins at 7pm. Tickets are priced at £12, with no charge for children under twelve years old. The ticket price includes a free programme and refreshments of mulled wine/juice and mince pies which will be available during the interval.
This year marks the 175th anniversary of St. Anne’s Church, and the concert will follow on from a Christmas Tree Festival held there thus creating a very Christmassy environment in which to hold the event.
Tickets are for sale from www.baparish.church/events but also from Brotherton’s music shop, 205 Newgate Street, Bishop Auckland DL14 7EL, from Jane Smith 01325 360514, from members of the choir, or you can pay on the door.
