Community Liaison Officer, Faye Callan, is newly appointed for the Spennymoor, Shildon, Ferryhill, Newton Aycliffe and Sedgefield areas. She will be based within the safer neighbourhood unit for South Durham and will work with the team there to assist in reducing crime and anti-social behaviour in the locations her job role covers. Faye says: “My aim is to build a positive relationship with the neighbourhood to help prevent and reduce crime. I hope that through raising the profile of crime prevention initiatives I can work together with local people to solve the issues that cause them concern and tackle crime across the towns I will cover, I am also keen to increase Neighbourhood Watch where you live, to make your streets a safer place to live.  “Previous to this role I was a swimming teacher and life guard at Bishop Auckland for over seven years. I was selected as the youngest Great Britain Paralympic swimming coach where I was given an amazing opportunity to work with athletes at the 2012 London Paralympic Games. After graduating from the University of Sunderland I became a teaching assistant and also a school swimming teacher. “I can’t wait to get started in the role and look forward to meeting the community, so if you see me around please come and say hello!
