Newton Aycliffe Youth & Community Centre were approached by Shelagh McFarlane on behalf of the Neville Parade Art Club to see if we would host an exhibition of their work.  NAYCC were more than happy for this to happen and the exhibition opened on Monday 24th July 2017 and will run for the 6 week school summer holidays. The last date for viewing will be Friday 1st September 2017. The Art Club meet at the Methodist Church every  Wednesday from 1pm until 3pm. They charge a small fee of £2 per session and this also gets you a cup of tea and a biscuit.  They have come together as friends in a social gathering as well as to work on their art.

There are specialist amateurs in every medium of art, from sketching to oils. The group means more than mere art, it also meets for companionship, going on outings once a year. The next one is on 6th September 2017, visiting York. For more information about the club please contact Shelagh via email on shelaghmcfarlane@rocketmail.com. NAYCC Manager, Beki Metcalfe says “I was honoured when asked by Shelagh and we had a blank wall that was in need of filling so I couldn’t think of a more perfect display”. The Youth and Community Centre is available to hire for a variety of activities such as meetings and seminars, training and educational classes, arts and crafts, dancing and exercise classes. It also regularly hosts the Breast-feeding Café, Tai Chi, Age UK Come Eat Together Monday Carvery, and Veterans Breakfast Club
