Greenfield Arts were delighted to welcome visitors from the Netherlands last week as they worked together with Greenfield Community College to gain an insight into learning and school development at Greenfield.
Greenfield Arts have worked with colleagues from The Netherlands for the past six years and have been twice to conferences there to present alongside colleagues from Newcastle University and Durham University. The visitors were interested in the creative approaches and enquiry based student learning at Greenfield and how this develops the skills and attributes of learners.
The visit was a great success and Students Leaders were excellent ambassadors for the school as they led an introductory workshop outlining how student led learning takes place at Greenfield and how students can support, lead and develop learning in their school. They also visited two Time4Success (daily lesson and vertical tutor group system) to understand how the students develop a self-led enquiry based approach to topics, such as the current topic ‘Being Green’.
Katy Milne, Director of Arts and Creativity, was very proud of the student groups “I was so impressed by the way the students spoke and listened, engaging with the group and each other, it is exciting that they will be developing their ideas using skype in the future to continue this relationship”.
There was over a hundred students involved in the visit and a number of staff who will now have the opportunity to share their experience further within the school. Thank you to our visitors from the Netherlands and to everyone involved in the visit. Greenfield Community College are committed to sharing learning and continuing to develop international links.
