Under 9’s played 3 x 20min games. The first game ended goalless with Jenson Patton pulling off some fantastic saves to keep Aycliffe level against a strong Bishop St Mary’s who went the whole of last season unbeaten. The second and third game, St Mary’s took control. The three games ended with a penalty shootout, with Jenson pulling some great saves again and Fletcher Tyndall scoring the decisive penalty. MOTM went to Jenson Patton for the third match running.
Under 14’s Whites started their 22/23 season with an emphatic 6-1 win away to Ferryhill Strikers, with six different scorers. Henry opened the scoring, after Ethan showed good tricks to keep the ball in play, lobbed the ball across the keeper for Henry to fire home. Centre back Josh scored next, making a nuisance of himself in the box, bundling home Ethan’s corner. Ferryhill started the second half better and broke through to pull one back. Noah then scored direct from a corner before Ethan finished after a lay off from Jayden. Jake G finished of a lovely piece of link up play as Noah slid the ball across the six-yard box for him to finish
Sam finished the scoring, by tucking away a penalty. A perfect performance from the team who all shared the MOTM award.
Under 14’s Whites played their second game in two days with a visit to Coxhoe United. Aycliffe turned on the style again in a dominant performance. Jake G opened the scoring with a beautiful strike from outside the left-hand corner of the box into the top right corner. Aycliffe defended solidly with Joshua, Sam and Charlie keeping Coxhoe quiet to give Aycliffe a half time 1-0 lead. Coxhoe come out strong in the second half, but Aycliffe’s defence remained unbeatable. A lovely passage of passing and Aycliffe worked their way down the left side for Henry to score the second. Aycliffe then piled on the pressure, a free kick from Josh was fumbled by the keeper and Jake C slotted home. Coxhoe pulled one back and looked fired up for a comeback, however, from the kick off, another great passage of play saw Tom round off the scoring for another win. Aycliffe ended up coming away with a 4-1 victory. MOTM was Jake C who worked tirelessly down the right wing.
Under 15’s travelled to Durham Quakies, it was going to be a tough test as Durham had only lost one game in the Russel Foster premier league last year. It was an excellent game of football with both teams playing well. The result was 0-0 but it was an excellent game of football.
Under 18’s continued their 100% pre-season with a 1-6 victory away to Billingham Town. Another impressive performance from all the squad, who welcomed two ex-Aycliffe players back to the club in Zack Blythe and Harry Brumwell. Aycliffe dominated the game, with the passing and interchange play a pleasure to watch. Goals from Zack Blythe, Charlie Walton, Tom Aspinall, Milo Harris (2), and Josh Gibson.
