J&C Coaches save the day!
Gavin, the mechanic from J&C Coaches found a hedgehog in their inspection pit during August.
At first it was thought to be a rat but on closer inspection, lo and behold, a hedgehog!
Covered in oil and very cold, it was passed immediately to a hedgehog carer who bathed it until clean (which took quite a while). So, it was named Slick as it left an oil trail!
We are pleased to announce however, Slick made a full recovery and has been released – success!
Now, we all know Bonfire Night is upon us. If you have a bonfire, before lighting, use a broom to lift the base and shine a torch underneath, listen and check for sleeping hedgehogs. If you can, slightly move the bonfire just to make sure.
Stay safe and look after our spiky friends, remembering to put out a bowl of water over the months ahead. Hedgehogs can go into hibernation from October onwards and even during the winter may pop out for something to eat or drink.
