It never gets any easier, especially at this time of year when Autumn Juveniles are needing a rescue, however some of them are so small they shouldn’t be out during the day alone without mum. My thanks go to Glyn who brought little Stevie on Monday evening, 350g, doing well, Karen who brought Andy, a mere 230g out alone and two very nice ladies who also brought Pippa on Saturday night, the poor girl has sustained an injury to both back legs, we thought that she had broken them but, on closer examination, this was not the case. She has lost all the fur off them both and some broken skin, also swollen, when I removed fly eggs she managed to use her legs, so I admitted her. Had her legs been broken she would have had to be put to sleep unfortunately, I have her here and she is doing well, so I am pleased. She has plenty of time, like the others, to recover, they won’t be released ‘til spring.
Also, thanks go to everyone who has made donations, these donations make it possible for me to be here taking care of them all, at the moment I have nine cages occupied, some are double occupied, but they are nice big cages and I won’t turn a hedgehog away if in trouble, especially a baby, all hoggies are kept in the house.
Can I remind everyone that if you see a hog out in the day it’s not ok, rescues are getting very full and whilst the weather is very cold and damp I will not be releasing any from here, my Facebook Page has some videos and pictures of the six I released last week, four of those released were born here.
Pictured here is baby Becky, she is doing really well, here ‘til spring with the other little ones here.
