A group of enthusiasts are building a steam engine from original drawings at a unit on Hackworth Industrial Estate, Shildon.
The first G5 engine was built in 1895 at North Road Railway Shops and 110 were brought into production and stationed all over the North East.
Most of the work has been completed and paid for from generous donations, however there are many small items needed to complete the build and any help would be appreciated.
You can see the engine under construction in the workshop on the first Saturday of the month and the next one is this Saturday 4th June from 10.00am to 1.00pm.
More details on how you can support the project is on the website: www.g5loco.co.uk.
