Heighington Under 8’s continued their march towards the title with a tough 2-0 win at home to all star colts. Goals from Jay Bulch and Tyler Woodward were enough to see the visitors off. Joe Neild was awarded man of the match. The second game saw Heighington win 4-2 goals from Tyler Woodward, Layton collier, Thomas Graham and Oliver Paylor.
Under 15’s made the short trip to Ferryhill Town, on a glorious Sunny afternoon. The home side took the initiative from the start, and were ahead after 2 minutes when Heighington struggled to clear their lines. After that the away side settled down, and were making chances, and before too long they levelled through Jack Emmerson, who then added a second, both of which were assisted by Max Errington Coates.
It was a ding dong battle, with not a huge amount of football being played from either side, and Ferryhill were to level just before half time, opening up the Heighington defence again. The Ferryhill striker Tyler was causing all sorts of problems the Heighington defence and was always a threat. Into the second half and Heighington took the lead when a disguised run by Liam Wright allowed Sam Butterfield to find space in the box and he finished in the corner to make it 3-2.
The games was to swing one way and the other, and Tyler grabbed his second, to draw level, before good work from Liam Wright put a cross over for captain Jamie Stapleton to head home to take the lead again. It was becoming like Groundhog Day, when yet again Ferryhill broke free and Tyler finished for his hat-trick.
It was to get worse for Heighington when the best player on the field after shrugging off a tackle in midfield broke through on the right hand side unchallenged and scored his fourth to give Ferryhill the lead with 10minutes to go.
Heighington then started to press again, and after some neat interplay, Liam Wright grabbed what turned out to the leveller to make it two games in a row, ending 5 a piece, so more work to do on the training field to cut out the defensive errors and improve our man marking
