Students had to undergo a rigorous examination on Tuesday 8th November under the watchful eyes of club instructors, Sensei Steve Wilkinson, 4th Dan, Sensei Andy Bailey, 4th Dan and Sensei John Ward, 1st Dan. From these the following passed with flying colours. From left to right on the picture:- Ryan Dunn, 8th Kyu Yellow Belt, Robin Horn, 7th Kyu Orange Belt, Joshua Reed – 3rd Mon Orange Tag, Theo Jackson – 5th Mon Yellow Tag, Chloe Hunter – 3rd Mon Orange Tag, Laura Armstrong – 6th Kyu Green Belt, Robert – 3rd Min Orange Tag (Double Grading), Jamie Pape – 3rd Mon Orange Tag, George Bowman – 3rd Mon Orange Tag (Double Grading), Katie Bowman – 8th Kyu Yellow Belt who actually graded in October and was awarded yellow belt after an excellent mock grading led to her receiving a surprise grade. The club is a fun, family focused group that meets at The Cubby (Old Neville Parade Community Centre), on Neville Parade, Newton Aycliffe every Tuesday (7pm to 8.30pm) and Thursday (6.30pm to 7.30pm). Ages start from 6 years up and instructors are DBS checked and fully insured. The club is registered with the British Combat Karate Association and first lesson is free. Its a great way to keep fit, learn a practical self defence and helps instil respect, discipline and self confidence.
