Three aspiring chefs from Greenfield College took part in the school heat of the Future Chefs competition. Connor Thompson, Lauren Evans and Owen Robinson were challenged by the competition (run nationally by Springboard) to create a hot main meal dish for under £5.
The three students rose to the challenge, creating tasty dishes to a high standard. The judges of this round felt there was a real “buzz” of excitement and they found it hard to choose a winner! The three final meals were judged on workmanship, creativity and presentation, composition and flavour and menu balance.
Lauren Evans won this heat with her fantastic chicken and chorizo paella, she will now go on to the Durham regional final to compete against winners from other schools. As the competition progresses she will be challenged more as the tasks become more difficult. This is a great achievement for one of our talented Greenfield students and the Food technology team here at Greenfield. We all wish Lauren the best of luck!
