Durham Rug Makers are a local traditional craft group keeping alive the tradition of proggy and hooky mat making and bringing it into 21st Century.
Meetings are held weekly on Mondays in Durham Library, but spaces are limited. Others meet at the newly refurbished Bowburn Community Centre on a Wednesday from 10-2pm.
DRM are holding an Open Day at Bowburn on Saturday 25th October to exhibit their latest creations, demonstrate a variety of wool / textile based skills and give hands on guidance on how to “prog” or “hook”.
ENTRY IS FREE, there are stalls and a raffle to win a mat made by the group. Stalls include:- raffle for a small hooked rug, fibre-crafts, tombola, bric a brac, jewellery, cakes, refreshments and Rug Aid.
