With the TJFA League closed till the new year it was only our teams in the Russel Foster League playing over last weekend
Under 13 Girls v Farringdon:
After a long break with the weather, the girls travelled to the Russel Foster Centre for their away game. The pitch was in good condition but a strong crosswind would test both teams. From the whistle the pace of Meg was creating chances, but the Farringdon defence held firm, then a great run across the box forced a foul, and as Farringdon dithered trying to sort a wall, quick thinking Meg placed the ball, stepped back and smashed the ball passed their keeper. Aycliffe tails were up and the defence of Molly, Millie and Bethany were winning every tackle. Then a rare break from Farringdon one on one with Alanna, but a stretched out leg keeps it 0-1 at the break.
Into the second half and midfield of Olivia, Melissa and Devan were now finding space. Half chances fell to Laura and Meg but the girls couldn’t find a second. Another chance to Aycliffe as Meg out sprinted the Farringdon defence, but couldn’t beat the keeper. The girls then confidently saw out the game to take a well deserved 3pts –  FT 0-1
The unbeaten run continues for the under 7 Eagles at Durham against a very well organised Consett Avengers Team. The whole team performance was outstanding and every single player played their part, giving us another great win as the Eagles edged the game 4-3.
Newton Aycliffe Youth Teams wish every player, manager, coach and volunteers all the best over the festive season and look forward to a successful 2016.
