It may be the close season but Newton Aycliffe Cricket Club have been busy making changes to their junior academy since the end of last season.
Three years after the senior teams joined the North Yorkshire and South Durham League, the club have decided to move all of their junior teams under the NYSD umbrella.
The under 11’s and under 13’s already play in the NYACC and will be joined next season by the club’s under 15’s who are moving from the Durham County League. Last years under 18 team are also moving and will now compete in the NYSD under 17 league.
The club have also expressed an interest in entering a team in the ECB National under 19 T20 competition which will see Newton Aycliffe pitted against some of the best under 19 teams in the regions as they attempt to reach the national stages.
Newton Aycliffe CC have appointed Adam Gittins as Junior Development Manager to oversee all aspects of junior cricket at the club. Adam’s role will see him support the junior managers in their roles and co-ordinate training and match day support.
Tony Pearson will remain as manager of the under 17’s in 2016, while Michael Tribley remains under 15’s manager. Dean Greaves has been appointed manager of the under 11’s but the club currently have a vacancy for an under 13’s manager. The clubs juniors return to indoor practice nets at Woodham Academy on Friday 8 January from 5.30pm to 7.00pm. New and existing players are welcome and more details can be obtained from Lee.
