Newton Aycliffe Cricket Club’s 1st team, sponsored by Franks the Flooring Store lost by 6 wickets away at Bedale 1st XI in the NYSD 2nd division. Asked to bat first Aycliffe scored a challenging 235 all out after 48.5 overs, thanks to excellent innings from Jack Slatcher (sponsored by Mr & Mrs Greaves), who top scored with 62, Subhan Christudas (31 runs) and 25 each from both Adam Gittins and Tom Wickins. In reply the homeside also batted well and despite a couple of wickets each from Luke Telford and Patrick Howe, Bedale reached their winning target after 48.1 overs.

The 2nd team were well beaten by ten wickets at home to promotion chasing Maltby 2nd XI in the NYSD 4th division. Electing to bat first, Aycliffe were bowled out for a disappointing 123 after just 25.3 overs. Ryan Patrick (sponsored by Business Club Durham) top scored with 29 and other contributions came from Dave Richardson (23 runs) and Dave Wright (14 runs). The visitors rushed to victory after just 20.3 overs without losing a wicket. The u15’s game away at Blackhall was marred by a nasty facial injury to captain Lucas Pilling who was struck by the ball when fielding and required a visit to hospital after the game. The home side scored 127 for 4 in their allotted 20 overs with David Robinson again bowling well taking 2 for 18.

In reply, Leo Mercy top scored with 13 runs, but Aycliffe were restricted to 71 for 9 from their 20 overs, falling short by 56 runs. The u13’s put up a gallant fight and were unlucky to lose by just 8 runs at home to Barnard Castle. The visitors batted first and scored 102 for 5 in their 20 overs with David Robinson the pick of the Aycliffe bowlers taking 2 for 7 from his 3 overs. In reply opener Harry Wright batted superbly scoring 32 not out off just 34 balls, including six boundaries. He was supported well by captain Iain Robson, who chipped in with 11 runs, but Aycliffe fell just short of their target finishing their 20 overs on 94 for 8.

The u11’s had a brilliant 48 run win at home to Blackhall in the NYACC Junior league. Aycliffe’s Harrison Pearson (3 wickets for 2 runs) and Thomas Dearden (3 wickets for 4 runs) bowled superbly and Daniel Heaton (15 not out) and Harrison Pearson (10 not out) batted equally as well in the Aycliffe innings.
