Saturday 1st of June saw three Aycliffe Tri Club athletes represent the club at events across the country. Mark and Phil Harrop of Newton Aycliffe (right) took part in Triology Open Water Iron Challenge at Ellerton Lake near Scorton.
They both opted for the Iron Man Challenge of a 3800m swim with Phil coming in first for the club in 1hr 23mins and Mark close behind in 1hr 35mins. This was a warm up session for the Harrop twins who will be taking part in Iron Man UK Bolton in July (updates to follow).
Michelle Scott our only lady competing that day took part in the BTF (British Triathlon Federation) Sprint Championships held at Holme Pierrepoint Nottingham. The event was made up of a 750m swim 20k bike route and a 5k run and is a course that known for its speed and fast times.
In a field of over 1100 strong triathletes Michelle came in 9th position in her category, an excellent result in such a strong field.
