Dear Sir,
A couple of weeks ago the recycle collection gang decided not to empty my bin and when I asked why, they said there was a Black bin bag inside.
I felt they were just being typical council “jobsworths” (where is Esther Rantzen when you need her?). I split the bin bag and emptied the contents into the bin and got my son to run after them with the bin, which they emptied after checking through my bin again.
Last week the council sent a girl around in front of the recycle collection gang, checking in the bins and putting on labels with a list of items which could go in the bin.
She had written on the sticker in the “other” section, “NO WHITE CLEAR PLASTIC” so does this mean she found no white clear plastic or is that yet another item that Durham County Council cannot recycle? The list is getting bigger by the week.
Come on County Council, sort yourself out – if you can afford to employ people to walk round in front of the recycle gang to stick stickers on the bins, then you have too much money.
Most councils recycle a lot more than Durham does, so employ the people to sort the recycled items after they have been collected. Cash in on the items you collect instead of paying someone else to sort and make profit. You are supposed to be serving us, the resident and council taxpayer, not being lazy dictators of what goes in the bins.
