Dear Sir,
We would like to thank you, Newton Press and the Howarth family, so much for awarding us the runner up certificate in memory of your Syd. We were totally shocked and overwhelmed and it was an honour and a pleasure to meet you all, along with the other nominees, who do so much for the community.
November sees us celebrating our 7th birthday at Clear and Care for the Community, so what a way to start our 8th year.
We originally started in our home and after approximately 5 years of having no home life, we took the big decision to rent a unit, which has been a God send. We have gone from donating thousands of pounds to other groups on the town in our first couple of years, to putting on events such as fortnightly family discos, Christmas/Halloween/Easter parties, adult live band nights, Little Fix concert, Toys are Back in Town shows, afternoon teas, jumble sales and craft fairs in the next few years.
Then finally, we moved to arranging family trips, where we heavily subsidise transport, and have been all over the country, including Monkey World in Dorset, Zoo’s, Theme Parks and Seaside destinations, with families who probably would never get to these places and they all made some wonderful memories.
We have also donated food hampers, toys to some less fortunate families at Christmas and even presents to some single mothers on Mother’s Day, who probably wouldn’t receive gifts from their small children.
As I have said, we finished off our 7th year with the Syd Howarth Community Service runner up award, which is an amazing achievement and a privilege. James and myself would like to thank everyone for their nominations and of course their wonderful support, as we would not be the fundraisers we are today without them all. We would also like to give a big shout out to all our helpers, who have done, and are doing, an amazing job to help us keep going.
Thank you again.
Sharon and James Franklin.
