The County Durham Food Bank, which has a Distribution Point at St Clare’s Church in Newton Aycliffe, is currently experiencing a shortage of Sugar and long life Fruit Juice in cartons. Kelly Smith is the Food Store manager. With her volunteer teams in Chester-le-Street, Kelly works really hard to ensure that the food parcels are nutritionally balanced. Trussell Trust food banks support people in crisis with a gift of 3 days of emergency food. About 90% of the food is donated by ‘us’ the general public. The people of Newton Aycliffe are wonderfully generous towards local people in crisis.

If you are a regular donor, or your church, work colleagues, school, or other organisation collects donations, perhaps you would consider using the current shortages ‘Shopping List’ from Kelly.

Long life fruit juice, sugar, UHT long life milk, chocolate, savoury snacks.

Donations can be made direct to the Distribution Point, 1.30 – 3.30 Wednesdays and Fridays. Also via the Public Donation Basket in TESCO, or for larger donations from groups, please contact the Food Store to arrange a pick up. You can contact Kelly on 0191 3889896.
