For as long as Newton News can remember, Aycliffe folk have complained about the Town Centre. Even after its multi-million pound refurbishment, they have continued to criticise what the town centre have to offer.
This weekend, in association with the Town Centre Management and Great Aycliffe Town Council, Newton News and Aycliffe Radio are laying on a FREE two-day music festival, featuring a host of local stars alongside Amela Lily and Black Lace. It is one of a whole series of planned town centre events and is a concerted effort to raise the town centre’s profile, to attract shoppers, and to make the town centre once again a vibrant centre of Aycliffe life.
So now is your opportunity to take part, to come and support the shows … and perhaps to spend some money in our town centre shops! We will only have a busy town centre when people like you come along!

OUR WONDERFUL PCP

Have you noticed the articles about ‘Exciting Activities at the PCP’ and the PCP’s AGM?
The PCP is one of the jewels in Newton Aycliffe’s crown.  Regarded as a white elephant when it was built in 1998, it has remained faithful to its mission: “Health, Wellbeing and Learning for all”, and today has 110 staff and 150 volunteers and a footfall of 265,000 visits a year (some 750 people a day – ten times that of its first year in 1998). It has recently done a values refresh, and is halfway towards raising the £400,000 needed to refurbish its hydrotherapy pool (help or donations to carol.gaskarth@pcp.uk.net).
It is wonderful to see this amazing Aycliffe organisation thriving, and laying on such a wide range of beneficial activities.
