Classic Cars Supports Student

Neal Huitson of Classic Wedding Cars NE, CEO and founder of the region’s most popular Wedding Car hire business was delighted to support a young student from Ferryhill School with his work experience over the past year.
The student, Harry, now in Year 11 at the school was a recent pupil that had suffered adversity throughout his comprehensive school years and had been excluded.
With the help and support of many friends and close family members he changed his life, leaving a pupil referral unit in 2022 to then return back to a mainstream setting, proving that, with the right environment and commitment to support him, anything is possible.
Neal said “I started my business in the mid 1990’s under the banner of Durham Wedding Cars with the help of a good friend Tony Fairley who was operating a Wedding Car business at that time. I bought two cars from him, having saved up my money working and was promised bookings from Tony for two years to help get my business moving.
I realised that the qualities I saw in this young man reminded me of my early days and struggles – I wanted to give him a similar chance as I had been offered. I am now in my 80’s and I have seen Harry eager to learn and his enthusiasm and respect towards Annette, my wife, has been fantastic. He’s learned lots about cars and vehicle maintenance and presentation.
“He knows how to deal with customers and, as we currently have a fleet of around 20 vehicles, he has had experience of various manufacturers and vehicle models. This will stand him in good stead for his future. It was a surprise to myself how quickly he grasped and utilised his knowledge so quickly.
“This business gets one chance to make it right on the day – one of the most important days of a bride and groom’s lives. I wish Harry well and in order to show my commitment to young people that wish to turn their lives around, I decided to provide him with a Rolls Royce Silver Spur for his final journey home following his last exam.”
