Darlington’s favourite community Christmas concert will return to the Dolphin Centre this December, with a programme packed with festive favourites. The St Teresa’s Hospice Christmas Cracker Concert will be staged on Saturday 23rd December, getting the holiday season off with a bang.

For many adults and children alike the Christmas Cracker, which began over 15 years ago, has become a real festive tradition in Darlington, marking the start of Christmas.

The night of festive fun includes carols, choirs, soloists and a wonderful volunteer orchestra led by Musical Director John Forsyth, MBE. Everyone donates their time and their considerable expertise free of charge, resulting in a magical Christmas evening.

Audience members will be treated to the debut performance by the newly formed St Teresa’s Hospice Choir, comprised of staff and volunteers who have all given up their time to perform on the night.

In addition to the wonderful performance there will also be mince pies, mulled wine, and a raffle to win a fabulous luxury Christmas hamper. There will also be a prize for the best Christmas jumper and audience members are encouraged to dress up to get in the spirit.

Hospice Chief Executive, Jane Bradshaw said: “This lovely concert marks the start of Christmas for me and this year I’m thrilled to be taking part with my colleagues, including our Head of Nursing, in the Hospice choir! With John Forsyth MBE once again at the helm as our Musical Director we can be assured of another magical performance. We are privileged to be supported by John and the wonderful volunteer choir and orchestra – all of whom give up their time for free at such a busy time of year.”

Tickets costing £10 for adults and £5 for children (under 16) are on sale now from the Hospice, its Darlington shops or from the Dolphin Centre main reception.
