I am a member (and Chair) of Newton Aycliffe Bridge Club. Recently, myself (Linda Lawson) and fellow Committee Member, Joyce Coxon, attended the monthly meeting of the Great Aycliffe Cancer Support Group to present them with a donation from our club funds of £150.
Each year, funds permitting, we like to give to a worthwhile cause to help them in their support or research. We had seen an article on the above group and as they are local, doing great work, felt that we would like our donation to go to them in 2019.
Joyce and I were pleased to meet Allison White and members of the group, find more details about what they do. We were amazed at how many members they had, how friendly and happy everyone appeared to be despite their problems and we felt very humbled to be part of their meeting. We were certainly made to feel welcome!
Our friendly Bridge Club meet at the Oakleaf Sports Centre, School Aycliffe Lane every Monday evening at 7.00pm and are always on the lookout for new, like minded pairs of bridge players to join us, so please come along – you’ll be made to feel very welcome.
