Sedgefield 75 swimming club was in action again for the very popular Winter Festival Meet hosted by Borough of Stockton Swim Scheme (BOSSS) at the Billingham Forum pool. Virtually every club in the Northeast entered leading to the event being over-subscribed by over 900 individual swims.
It began on Friday evening where Alex Boyer and Emma Price swam 400m freestyle, Alex winning bronze in a PB and Emma winning gold. Filip Wilczynski also won gold by a large margin in 200m individual medley making it a great start to the weekend.
Emma was back in action on Saturday morning not just taking gold in 200m freestyle but being the fastest across all ages in the event and securing a Winter National championships qualifying time. Filip then took silver in 50m butterfly equalling the club record in the process.
Jessica Bell then put in a big PB to take bronze in 50m backstroke before taking 4th in 100m breaststroke. Filip struck gold again in 100m backstroke and Emma silver in 100m individual medley.
It was then girls 50m freestyle, and Jessica and Aviana Wilson both set significant PB’s, Emma took silver and Zoe Hodgson went under 30 seconds again. Jessica then took a 5th in 100m butterfly with a PB to round off Saturday.
On to Sunday and Alex hit a PB again in 200m freestyle and Jessica PB’d again on 50m butterfly.
Filip took another gold in 50m backstroke and Emma and Jessica swam 200m breaststroke, then Filip returned with a PB in 100 IM.
Emma then set a PB in 400m individual medley, well inside the qualifying time for the Nationals taking silver before Jessica rounded off her competition with a solid 50m breaststroke. Filip then took a PB and bronze in 200m backstroke and finished off with 100m butterfly.
Emma was last to swim with 100m freestyle where she took another silver.
Considering the standard of the competition was pushed so high by the presence of all of the Northeast’s top swimmers, some outstanding results from our local athletes.
