Public invited to Open Day

INTERNATIONAL craft supplier, Crafter’s Companion will be welcoming Newton Aycliffe residents to the opening of its first UK store at Aycliffe Business Park this bank holiday weekend.

The store launch, which includes a number of pre-launch events, will start with a ribbon cutting ceremony, led by the Deputy Mayor Cllr Michael Dalton, on Friday 27th May at 10am.

The Friday event will give the public a first glimpse of what the store has to offer, along with giving visitors the chance to take part in crafty Make and Take sessions.

The rest of the bank holiday weekend will give visitors the chance to enjoy a number of activities, led by some of the Crafter’s Companion TV stars, as well as get to know the store and the team.

There will also be a local business evening, which will be attended by the newly-elected Mayor, Cllr Jed Hillary and his wife, on Wednesday 25th May intended to give the area’s business community the opportunity to preview the new store.

The Newton Aycliffe-based store is the result of a £500,000 investment by the company and is expected to bring craft enthusiasts into the region, as well as allowing local crafters and those wishing to try the hobby for the first time a place where they can get to know the brand and interact with its products.

Sara Davies, founder of Crafter’s Companion said: “It’s great to finally see our plans come to life. The new store looks amazing and we can’t wait to show our visitors.

“A lot of hard work has gone into getting our flagship store ready for the series of launch events and the team has done a fantastic job.

“We look forward to welcoming the Newton Aycliffe residents throughout the weekend, we hope they’ll come and try their hand at craft and get involved with some of the activities going on in store.”

Along with housing several themed shopping areas, such as papercraft, sewing, haberdashery, home décor and art, the 7,000 sq ft store also has a coffee shop, a central hub for workshops and group sessions and two dedicated demonstration areas where visitors can learn more about craft.

The store will be open to the public from 10am until 5pm on Friday and Saturday and from 10am – 4pm on Sunday and Monday.
