A chef from an Aycliffe Takeaway has cooked his way to the finals of a reality TV show competition. Syed Marjan Haque (41), chef and owner of Masala Tandoori, in Newton Aycliffe, is delighted to have made the final in Channel 1’s Reality Show 2016: “The Chefs”. He prepared classic Indian dishes in five rounds making it through to the finals and Mr Haque, from Darlington, said: “As a fan of the show I am very happy. I watch the TV show and it’s a good organisation all about good food.” Thirty chefs from the NorthEast competed and were shortlisted to two rounds held in Newcastle. Syed cooked Chicken Korma, Lamb Shank, Chicken Korai and King Prawn Dopiaza. He recently participated in a workshop held by a Magazine’s Curry Life Chefs Club earlier this year. Syed is among Ten chefs who made it throught to the finals of the show and only one will be crowned overall winner in December. The show is to be broadcast on Sky channel 833. afterwards.
