The Newtona Aycliffe Marie Curie Fundraising Group raised a fantastic £343 last weekend by enjoying a spot of tea and cake at the charity’s summer fundraising campaign.

The local fundraising group welcomed guests to Heighington Village Hall on Saturday July 9 where scones were served and visitors tried their luck on the tombola and raffle.

The Blooming Great Tea Party encourages everyone to get together with friends and family. Tea parties across the UK have raised over £4.5 million since the campaign started in 2008. The funds raised from this Blooming Great Tea Party will help Marie Curie Nurses care for more people living with a terminal illness in their own homes in and around Newton Aycliffe.

Hayley Revell, Community Fundraiser for Marie Curie said: “The Newton Aycliffe Blooming Great Tea Party was a great success and we are grateful to everyone who attended the event.

“There was a great atmosphere in the hall and a fantastic amount of money was raised.”
The Newton Aycliffe Fundraising Group for Marie Curie meet once a month to organise their own fundraising events and support campaigns like Blooming Great Tea Party and Great Daffodil Appeal.
