The Mayor and the Random Reiki Master
Recently, as Mayor, it was a pleasure to accept a donation of £140 from Cllr Phillip Hawkins for the Mayors chosen charities.
Cllr Hawkins presents two shows on Aycliffe Radio, the community based Around Town and the international Random Reiki Master Show, and he is a published author with a number of books to his credit and has agreed to donate the royalties from future book sales to the Mayors charities.
Cllr Hawkins has supported a number of charities over the years but, on becoming a councillor, he felt it was important to support some of the local and lesser-known charities, and, in doing so, show support to those councillors who will take on the role of Mayor in the future.
Around Town recently hosted MP Paul Howell, as a guest on its ‘A Day in the Life of’ series, a Member of Parliament, and I, as Mayor, have agreed to be a guest on Around Town when scheduling allows, to discuss ‘A Day in the Life of’ the Mayor of Newton Aycliffe.
