SHINE Children’s Community Choir returned to fill the hall with joy and thankfulness when they performed their Summer Singalong at the end of July. This was the first big inside performance for most of these children, as the choir has been concentrating on outdoor events following their return from the Covid pandemic break. 32 singers aged between 5 and 15 wowed the audience of 147 people. They sang a range of feel good songs with a summer vibe and boy was it good to be back!
The choir, of course has many familiar faces but it is now, as one spectator commented, becoming a very diverse group with members from Poland, Nigeria and Romania all rubbing shoulders and making solid friendships with their UK neighbours. Making it an International Choir. Each song was introduced by a different choir member giving an insight into why the track had been chosen.
This powerhouse of wonderful children sang 10 songs in total – old favourites ‘Dancing Queen’, ‘Reach for the Stars’, ‘Old Blue Jeans On’, joined with the moving ‘True Colours’ song signed by choir member Katelyn. Ending with favourites ‘Let Love Shine Through’, ‘My Lighthouse’ and ‘The Power in Me’ – a song of positivity and motivation encouraging all present to believe in their ability to achieve good things in life.

The Team who run this choir would like to invite other interested boys and girls along to join us. We begin back, with September Taster Sessions to have a try at something new on 12th September from 5pm to 6pm in St. Clare’s Church Fellowship Hall. The choir is FREE, Fun and Friendly, where all children are supported to celebrate diversity and to be the best they can be. So why not give it a try, we are sure you will love it?
