Eleven Year 7 girls from Woodham Academy attended  workshop to train them to be future Science Ambassadors. The Institute of Physics is working to understand and address the issue of girls’ under-representation in physics post-16. As part of their Gender Balance Project they held a full day of training for groups of students from local schools run by the IOP and Durham University. The day included team building activities, practical activities, confidence building, presentation skills training, group presentations and feedback. The girls carried out a range of experiments with a space theme and then delivered a presentation about the science they had learned. They are all now more confident giving presentations and are looking forward to using their new skills.
