Newton Aycliffe Youth F.C. prides itself on providing youth football for over 280 local kids. The club has over the years developed some very talented young footballers, one of which can boast a UEFA Champion League winners medal! The football club has been at the forefront of providing football for girls as well as boys. Our very successful girl’s teams are going from strength to strength but are always looking for new players to join in the fun. Bishop St. Marys U10’s Girls 0 – 1 NAYFC U10’s Girls. Another hard day at the office for the U10 girls, this week against Bishop Auckland. We started determined but Bishop seemed to defend with all their players. The girls worked hard to create as many runs as possible. A long throw in by Keira found Imogen and she weaved her way through to score. Phoebe as strong as ever with Keira in defence allowed Ferne and Lily to build up the skills. Libby growing in confidence in goal kept a clean sheet, while Heidi, Chloe, Gracie and Eden kept the opposition busy. A good 0-1 win from the Aycliffe girls. U12 Girls 4 – 1  Hartlepool Pools Youth. After 2 defeats, another tough game for the girls today as they welcomed 2nd placed Pools. The first half showed Aycliffe can play with passing and pace. They were getting into great positions but Hartlepool’s keeper stood firm as Aycliffe created but didn’t convert 4 excellent chances. However, on the break Pools looked dangerous but Macy, Olivia and Neve were on hand to stop any real chances HT 0-0. Into the second half and the midfield of Alex and Kate were creating Aycliffe’s attacks with Brook supporting out wide having the confidence to take on the full back, eventually Aycliffe got their breakthrough as Alex gets in being the Pools defence to score from a tight angle. Then Neve at the back finds Kate who slides it to Hattie 2-0.  Laila and Lauren were working hard covering the ground out on the left, then against the run of play Pools grab a goal which lifted them. But within 5 mins Hattie makes it 3-1 and as the game was nearly complete. Aycliffe defended a corner and raced up the field passing as they went to leave Alex to score and take the points. FT 4-1, back to winning ways and a good all round performance. Bishop St. Marys U12’s Kings 0 – 5 U12’s Eagles. U12s Eagles were away on Sunday in a Division 1 clash with Bishop Auckland Kings. Aycliffe to their credit took control early on when Jack Clarkson sent a delightful corner ball to the back post where Kieran Walton blasted a header downwards into the back of the net. From here on in the Aycliffe lads played with an intelligence beyond their years. Brennan Fitzpatrick controlled the midfield. Aycliffe also now have a striker who holds the ball up well and makes intelligent runs in Brandon Addy. This all helped with the rest of the team playing total football. In the middle of all this Jack made a weaving run all the way through the midfield and around the keeper to make it 0.2. James Sear battled hard on the wing and got a reward for the team when he tackled hard winning the ball and the ball fell to Calum Whitfield who slotted home 0.3 HT Team talk? Who needs one these days just keep doing what you’re doing and keep making your own decisions. 2nd half Aycliffe started where they left off. Leon Patel & Louis Airey being very composed as wing backs. Aycliffe’s keeper Charlie Harrison is having his first season with the team and what a difference he has made bringing confidence to his defence. Alfie Backhouse came on and worked hard and started a move that Calum Whitfield finished by scoring a goal that looked impossible at that angle. Even the referee said, “how did he get that in?!”. Brandon Addy got his reward after all his hard work by scoring shortly before the end to make it 0.5 Ft. Well done lads you are getting what you all deserve.
