September 2015 will see the official launch of Woodham’s More Able Academy. This follows on from the overwhelming success of the Woodham Sports Academy, seeing a similar model and structure being used to challenge the highest achieving students.
The programme will consist of a bespoke package of educational provision and extra – curricular activities, including guest speakers, reading groups, GCSE astronomy, educational visits, academic challenges and much more. The highlight and culmination to the year will be an overseas trip to a European capital city.
Deputy Headteacher Mr Andrew Bell commented “This is such an exciting opportunity for our students at Woodham Academy. We are always looking for new ways to raise achievement and help our young people achieve their potential. The More Able Academy will support our highest achieving students with this process.”
All provision has been designed to provide a high level of challenge to those students enrolled in the academy, with the overall aims of raising aspiration, enriching cultural experiences and increasing the number of students achieving the highest grades at GCSE level.
Students who meet the entry criteria will be invited to a launch evening at Woodham Academy on Thursday 24th September.
